Meet the Team
Dr. Jason Rattan
DVM
Dr. Jason Rattan, DVM, has been practicing since 1995. He’s worked with all kinds of animals, from pocket pets to large breed animals. He started out working at a hospital on the edge of Dallas/Ft. Worth Texas. He moved into practicing with cats and dogs because he really enjoys cats and dogs and says they are his favorite. Dr. Rattan lives in the Hollywood hills with his Whippet, Sunny. He loves the peace and quiet of the hills because he gets to see nature and sometimes is lucky to spot coyotes and deer on the same day. He purchased Park La Brea in 2005 because he loves the small community feel of the Fairfax District. He loves being a vet and feels being a vet is the perfect fit for him because he loves helping animals. In his spare time, when he’s not enjoying nature, he loves to read.

Outside of work, Jailene is a proud mom to her beautiful and silly 8-year-old daughter. Her family is her greatest motivation, and everything she does is for them. When she’s not at the clinic or studying, she cherishes spending time with her little family, making memories together.
Alex
Veterinarian Assistant
Alex grew up in New York, surrounded by animals of all kinds—hooves, woofs, quacks, and moos. His fascination with their unique perceptions of the world led him to develop a deep appreciation for their well-being. His journey eventually brought him to the West Coast, where he discovered a passion for veterinary medicine. What started as a new opportunity during a difficult time in his life quickly became a calling. Veterinary medicine provided him with purpose, endless learning opportunities, and a drive to grow every day. He firmly believes that teamwork and empathy are essential to becoming a better veterinary professional and ultimately aspires to become a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine.
Alex knew he was in the right profession when he found himself facing challenges that pushed him outside his comfort zone. Navigating difficult situations and achieving success in unexpected moments solidified his passion for the field. He loves that veterinary medicine constantly offers new opportunities to learn and improve, keeping him engaged and motivated.
Outside of work, Alex enjoys spending time outdoors—whether at the beach or hiking in nature. Coming from a large Italian family with roots in agriculture and farming, he has always appreciated the connection between animals and people. He shares his life with his beloved German Shepherd, Titan, who keeps him active and adventurous.
Hazel
Veterinarian Assistant and Receptionist
Hazel has spent her whole life as a Los Angeles resident – in fact she brought her family pets here long before joining the team! She’s a certified “Horse Girl” and spent a lot of her days in the stables. She worked in the clinic throughout highschool, and after completing her degree at UC Davis and Cal State Northridge, she rejoined as a full time staff member. She loves helping the animals of her community, learning about all the new Vet Med advancements, and feels a strong connection to the pets and pet parents alike. When she is not at work, she cruising around in her 99′ Tacoma pickup, or with one of her many pets – the kitties Henry, BlueBlue, and Winnie, her horses Lakota and Tess, her daschund Nanny Slug and her sweet pitbull Mabel “Big Girl.”
Skylar
Receptionist
Although Skylar calls New Jersey home, she was born in Amsterdam and spent most of her childhood living in London and Singapore. She has had a lifelong passion for animals and earned her degree in Animal Science at University of Vermont. She loves spending time with the cats and dogs in the clinic, but her passion truly lies in animal conservation. Outside of the office, she works as the communications consultant at The Pangolin Specialist Group, a non-profit dedicated to educating the public about Pangolins and the illegal trading of their scales, in hopes to one day eradicate the practice worldwide. In her free time, you can find her hanging out at the beach, at a concert, or snowboarding any chance she gets!
Raegan
Receptionist
Raegan was born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky, where she spent weekends and summers on her family farm. She grew up with an old beagle, maltese, and a host of barn cats, and has always had fun fishing, riding horses, and feeding her resident porch Raccoons. She completed a degree in design in Boston, Massachusetts, but recently moved across the country with her little beagle Beans to thaw out! She finds helping pets and their families have a less scary vet experience the most worthwhile part of her job, and can usually be found with one of the day’s patients in her lap while working reception. When not at work she likes to garden, sew, paint, and most especially spend time with Beans!
